探討木材之物理及機械性質對於家具構造與製造品質之影響，並讓學生瞭解材料之組織構造以熟識家具用材之鑑定。終其目標在使學生認識材料進而善用材料。
介紹以木質材料為主之家具材料。內容含蓋木材之外觀特徵，組織構造，材料鑑識及其物理與機械性質對於家具構造和製造品質其間之關係等。
